Officieel is Deltachat een mail client, maar met een twist. De email berichten zien en voelen aan zoals instant messaging berichten zoals we kennen van Skype en Whatsapp. De berichten zijn speciaal geformateerde en geencrypteerde email berichten. Dus er is naast je bestaande E-mail server, gehost bij Antagonist, geen gecentraliseerd account beheer.
Er bestaan open-source clients voor Desktop, Android en IOS.
